FSI D60 is busy on Jersey

Eastern Garden Machinery’s Andrew Le Maistre keeps the FSI D60 busy on Jersey. The D60’s hirable with an operator only, and with him also having a landscape/ garden maintenance company he has loads of experience in handling the FSI D60.

Here’s Andrew’s take on the FSI D60

Our old grinder was 35hp, hydraulic controlled, going to the FSI 60D fully remote grinder, has been a transformation for our company. Where we would be advising the customer to remove the larger stumps by digging out and carting stumps off site and incurring extra dump charges and plant.

With its 2.2 m sweep, means less movements, and less movements mean quicker grinding time.

The last time I bought a grinder, there was not the option of the dozer blade, so this time I specified the grinder with the blade, and where I used to use a lot of labour hours filling the holes in, I now simply grind the stumps, and then doze the material back into the hole, and pass very lightly a spring rake over the top, job done.

We've always chosen wheels

We have always chosen wheeled grinders, and this is so we do not have to put boards down to go across a lawn, or driveway. I accept more tracked grinders are sold; this is just a personal choice of our company. Some people might say you need tracks for access in some areas, but if ever we come across this problem, we will use our excavator and our FSI stump grinder that goes on the end of it. Again, a fantastic tool, and good for grinding the stumps on top of banks.

Every time we finish a day of grinding, we clean the filters, I have a little battery hoover and I hoover the pre filter rather than blowing all the dust/debris around the machine, we also add a couple pumps of grease at all the grease points, check the teeth and refill the machine with diesel before we put it away.
